Tripping by Public Transit from Toronto

Hurdles

Toronto’s non-existent system for moving people is legendary. On this page you can read of the hoops and hurdles through which we have to jump to get anywhere.

The list is drawn from my experience; it is not exhaustive, but the experience is exhausting.

Toronto Transit Commission (TTC)

The TTC is is a combination of underground trains (The Subway) and surface vehicles (buses on roadways and streetcars on rails). The TTC serves only Toronto City and is insulaire; it ignores all transit services from surrounding cities.

GO Transit

GO trains and buses serve the inner and outer suburbs of Toronto, adjacent cities and satellite towns.

Brampton Transit

Durham Regional Transit

York Regional Transit

VIA Rail

VIA rail serves the southern provinces of Canada.

Amtrak

Amtrack is the passenger-carrying railway and bus service of the United States of America.

Gray Line

Greyhound Coach

Bike Rental

Presto Card

Daisy-Chaining Planning and Execution

My idea for a late-fall (cool, cold but dry) day trip is to attempt to travel from downtown Toronto to Hamilton by Local Public Transit.

Sleigh Bells

How Santa delivers presents by Public Transit.
