407-ETR Billing Complaints

I had a Complaint, and got it Resolved!

I had a Dispute, and got it Settled!

And battled Customer Service and won!

There’s no need to go to Court.

You won’t lose your Driver’s License

(But see also http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/fixer/article/723013--hwy-407-throws-drivers-a-curve and http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/fixer/article/724106--can-province-fix-407-billing-fiascos and http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/fixer/article/723011--death-taxes-and-now-407-bills )

You can try contacting the Better Business Bureau, but I suspect that they have heard it all before, and what can they do but make sure the 407-ETR’s name is on their list?

Especially if you live in Toronto, Markham or Mississauga.

Incorrect billings, and false or incorrect charges are nothing new to the 407-ETR. See for example this report in Tollroads News .

Individuals like me have documented their complaints .

The 407-ETR’s color scheme is blue, so it should not have been a surprise to me to receive, out of the blue – a bill for $697.75.

Tactics is what some call it. Phooey! “Racketeering” doesn’t even come close

I haven’t had a bill from the 407-ETR since October 2000 at the latest.

I haven’t driven on the 407-ETR since May 2000.

I haven’t owned a 407-ETR transponder since October 2000.

I haven’t owned a car since July 2003.

But on October 1st 2008 I received a bill for $607.75.

This is my story, taken from my written notes as events unfolded.
