32 Grenville Street

This was my view to the North. St Vincent Lane runs along the left between Grenville and Grosvenor Streets. Garbage  bins await collection; it won’t be long now ...

I raise the camera a little. A rainy, foggy day. The crane on the building is almost lost to view. The covered parking lot, immediately to the west of the old Coroners Court building will be demolished and a 55+ storey condominium erected.

The two orange apartment buildings will remain for another half a dozen years, but they will be replaced by 60+ condominium towers. Before that happens they will disappear from view, blocked by the L-shaped condominium complex that will replace the old Coroners Court

A view east from my bedroom window across the old Coroner’s Court, and with the 9-21 Grenville Street condominium in the centre (erected 2014-2017; used to be a parking lot) and the new 1 Grenville Condominium (erected 2016-2018; used to be two-storey mom-and-pop stores.)

My house plants are scraggly, mainly due to lack of direct sunlight these past twenty months.

Two years from now there will be no view of the sky from this apartment building. Not “no direct sunlight”, but No View Of The Sky.

Now, you may ask, “Why move to Bonavista?”

I spotted this video on YouTube.

At the 3m50s mark you can see my old apartment building; not a ray of direct sunlight. The two 60-storey condominium buildings were built after I moved in.
