June 19th 2009

... promises to be a spectacular morning.

Two of our brilliant planets – Mars and Venus– will appear in the sky together just before sunrise, with a crescent moon keeping them company, and a tiddy-biddy Mercury between that crowd and the sun.

Due South at the same time will be Jupiter, and in between Jupiter and Mars-Venus will be Uranus.

This is your chance to see a crescent moon and Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Uranus while sipping an early-morning coffee.

Mmmmm!

If you want to see what it will look like, download the excellent DOS program SkyGlobe . (The Windows version is buggy!)

I’ll be taking a series of photos, weather permitting.

June 19th was a washout. Cloud and rain for three days.

Darn again!
