Tea Lake
About 145 Km due north of Jane and Steeles. Take the Whites Falls Road exit from Highway 400 and head east.
You will pass through Big Chute, site of the TWO marine railways, and well worth a stop to watch it in operation, you ask me.
Big Chute is marked by the red rectangle.
Our launch point at the marina at the head of Tea Lake is marked with a red circle. Parking is to the north side of the road.
We paddled from the marina to a disused bridge at the head of a long bay, and back.
The trip was not much fun owing to the frequent large-boat traffic on the Trent-Severn waterway.
In the quiet bays we spotted the habitual ducks/geese/loons.
The lake was beautiful enough, but the boats degraded the main stream channel to a survival course.
Here we are about to make a narrow passage into a sheltered bay.
Beautiful, calm and serene.
The banks are accessible.
But we clambered out onto a disused bridge for lunch, before making our way back.
Fred sets off to reclaim the car.
I take a photo looking south down the main part of Tea Lake.
Same view with zoom.
The canoe is strapped on to the car roof.
Fred twists the straps to reduce the humming noise when we pick up speed.
Here is a photo of me taking a photo of the smaller of the marine railway trolleys.
A close up of the tracks.
