Doing Something is Always GoTo, Select, Action

The last time you went out to lunch you went to Druxy's, chose a sandwich, then sat down and ate it.

In order to sit down, you went to the table near the window, chose the seat facing the street, then parked your butt.

If you want to bold some text, you first click with the mouse or use the faster keyboard method to get to where you want to be, then you drag the mouse, or use the shift key to select a chunk of text, then you click the bold button or use Ctrl-B to apply local bold formatting to the text.

Take a look at your actions today. Always GoTo, Select, Action.

It follows that if your Selection skills are weak, then your Actions will be fraught with problems, and you'll spend a lot of time recovering from poor actions.

Further, if your GoTo skills are weak, then whatever selections skills you apply will be based on a weak foundation, and you may as well give up on the actions and go back to basket-weaving.

If you have ever been dismayed to find that "the menu item is grayed out" or "that option isn't available", I'll bet you an ice-cream cone at Dairy Queen to a full meal at The Montreal Deli that it's because you haven't managed to select the appropriate object.

Get your GoTo and Selection skills in perfect condition; only then can your actions be smooth and accurate, and therefore efficient and successful.
