There Are At Least Four Ways of Doing it

Start off by assuming that what I say is true, and that there are at least four ways of doing anything and everything in Windows. (If you think you can prove me wrong, then Talk to Me ).

Depending on the situation you are in, the way you are used to work may not be the most appropriate.

Consider this: there are at least four ways of getting to work today:

(1) Public Transit (bus)

(2) Public Transit (train)

(3) Taxi

(4) Bicycle

(5) Private vehicle

(6) Car pool

(7) Walk (if you live less than 2 miles from your place of work)

(8) Telecommute (i.e. work from home)

I'm sure you can add to the list.

Here's my point: If public transit is delayed (subway train problems), you'll hop on a (crowded!) bus or try to grab a cab, or phone a colleague who drives to work, or just stay home and call the office.

If Keele Street is closed due to a major fire, you'll take the Jane Street bus instead, and connect to an Eastbound bus instead of your regular Westbound bus.

If Highway 400 is closed, you'll scoot down highway 27.

And so on.

And so it is with computers: there is no one way that's best for all situations. You owe it to yourself to find AT LEAST four ways of doing your tasks, so that you can select the best method that works for you in THIS situation.

Sometimes, when it's really late, and I'm really tired, I treat myself to a $10 cab ride home from the station, instead of waiting for a bus on a cold snowy night.
