Excel Professional – Existing Workbook

If you don’t have an existing workbook that you would like to rebuild or refurbish, don’t worry.

But if you are erading this because your current efforts are not working too well, then I recommend that you print out a portion of each worksheet of each workbook that belongs to your failing project.

There is no need to print the entire sheet; in most cases the top-left corner will suffice.

Identify each page with the name of the workbook and/or worksheet.

Then identify (circle and label) the data as one of the four types mentioned above.

We are particularly interested in those data which are Input and parameters. Those cells will generally have just numbers or text in the original worksheet.

Those cells which contain formulae will be calculation cells.

Identify the cells which, to your mind, should be present on a one-page summary report.
