4 Ways of Getting Followed

Here are a few techniques I’ve tried; I don’t guarantee success, but you may want to see if they work for you.

Caveat: I mean REAL followers, not automated programs which “discover” you.

1. Tweeting a block of, say, 4 tweets at one time. I reason that a small dose of “me” induces a non-follower to click each tweet because I have provided a handy little bundle of quotes they can explore. I pretty well guarantee them four quick glimpses into my mind and an opportunity for them to make a decisions quickly.

2. Allied with the “block” concept is the “anchor” concept. First thing each morning I tweet about one of the hundreds of tips I have amassed over the years. That means each block will have a valuable practical bit of advice for the reader (along with a whimsical tweet, a re-tweet etc.)

3. Respond to a particular tweet of someone you want to follow you. I reason that when that person learns that they’ve been re-tweeted they will be curious enough to come and inspect my tweets.

4. Use a photo of myself. I’ve noticed that I tend to be drawn to read a tweet when it is accompanied by a human face. (It ought to be yours!). Tweets accompanied by a logo or worse, by a grey-head-profile seem to be too anonymous and for me, the business of tweeting is that of connecting with individuals in large corporations.
