Laying Out the Card

Our card is a sheet 15.2x20.4.

Our image is 9x5.

The image is to be centered horizontally.

The image’s bottom edge must be 2.6cm from the bottom edge of the sheet.

Centering horizontally means that the left-hand edge must be 3.1cm from the edge of the sheet of paper.

If the bottom edge of a 5cm image is to be 2.6cm from the bottom edge of the sheet, then the top edge must be 5.0+2.6 or 7.6 cm from the bottom edge.

Since the sheet is 20.4 cm, then the top edge of our image must be 20.4-7.6 cm, or 12.8 cm from the top edge.

I have cut three or four sheets of scrap paper to the size of the card and will use these scraps for experimentation.

Here you see my draft sheet, with the rectangular image positioned, then printed for a side-by-side matchup with a real card.

Pretty good.
