The Toronto Star has taken up the practice of sheathing its newspapers in plastic sheets. These sheets annoy the heck out of your fellow-travelers, so find a Second Use for them!

The sheet makes an excellent cover cloth for the kitchen counter before you embark on slicing up beetroots, bottling jam, or any other exercise that might stain or mar your counter.

I suppose, too, they'd make excellent mats for winter boots, either just inside your doorway, or in the basement while muddy or snowy boots dry out.
