Plastic Bottles

The top of a plastic bottle of fruit juice (available alongside any road or highway) makes an excellent wide-throat funnel. Here I am funneling meat sauce into a preserving jar.

I need a wide-throat for this sauce, because I am using ground beef (minced meat) and it will form clumps of one or two centimetres diameter.

A regular funnel has a throat of one centimetre or less.

The wider throat is also a little deeper; the funnel is less likely to topple over before it is loaded with meat sauce.

And the rest of the plastic bottle? I am planting baby jade plants in containers with no holds, so, after warning people not to over-water them, I can be confident that their jade plant will die quickly if they over-water it.

Cruel, perhaps, but I believe that most house plants die from drowning. Humans apply their own need for water to that of house plants.
