Rhubarb

Google Images says this is “Rhabarber "The Sutton”, but I know that I have two different varieties in this plot, one at the south and, and a broader stalk at the north end.

I generally pick ten pounds of stalks every two weeks during spring/summer, but this year we have had too little rain.

Why is our rainfall important? Because rhubarb are a thirsty vegetable and need lots of water. Knowing this I planted the row under the eaves in the narrow space between the house and the western fence. My idea was that each rainfall would douse the rhubarb. But no rain means little watering, so this year lower crops.
