I contact thePersonal 866-989-4754 at 16:23 and speak with Paul (“Dolt?”) with three questions (1) Coverage amount$ (2) Premium drops to $?? When I get rid of the oil/stove and go to baseboard (3) Chimneys, flue, roof my affair?

Paul doesn’t have the answers. Six times has to go to someone else. Says “All we need is the amperage”, and when I ask “That’s it? No problems with the oil/wood?” he trots out the lame “Computer says” story. This firm doesn’t know enough to be able to tell me what the premium will be, nor even to tell me the next question after the “amperage”. Strange, since I have a SouthCoast questionnaire in front of me as I type!

I did not get to discuss the coverage figures: A replacement dwelling here in Bonavista will NOT cost me $180K; The store is NOT worth $45 to me; My personal property would NOT cost $126K to replace. Paul had never heard of high-risk/low-risk, yet both Kims use the terms. Paul’s computer does not, apparently, let him “take out” the wood and oil, even though I tell him that the wood is gone and the oil will be gone. He stumbles to a halt at “Amperage”. He can’t send me anything printed, so this is all hot air. After 45 minutes (mostly on hold) he says that the wiring must be 150Watts. “Watts?” I say, “or Amps”. “Amps!”. Well I’m glad that we got that sorted out. Clickety-click (which he could have done 45 minutes ago) and he says that the premium would drop by only $83 p.a, $11 p.m pro-rated. That is not good enough.

He winds up by saying “I am saving this”, which is quite pointless because I will never have a copy under my eyes. I pour another mug of tea and embark on a mini-plan – to be rid of the Personal by August 4th, or September 4th at the latest. I will do this by dragging contractors in for cash quotes, consulting with SouthCoast, getting a loan from SB to cover whatever it takes to upgrade the board to 150A and do the rest later. Unhooking the oil stove is $250; I can sell the oil. Rewire to 150amps and baseboard heaters and I am DONE!

What does SouthCoast need to know?
