Making the Toronto Transit Commission ďThe BestĒ
It is, of course, to laugh.
It is hard for me to rank the Toronto Transit Commission higher than any other transit system in Southern Ontario (Iím talking St Catherines to Barrie to Cobourg here, with all towns and cities in between, in my experience).
It is impossible for me to rank the Toronto Transit Commission higher than any other transit system in the World. Iím talking Pittsburgh, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Adelaide, ...
Mississauga and Brampton each have a better system than Toronto.
So, here are two proposals to raise the Toronto Transit Commission to be, truly, the best in the world. Both proposals are fairly simple to implement, but one will take only three months, while the other will take five years.
Make the Toronto Transit Commission a Fully-Funded Public Transit System. I have a PDF file here .
A Fully-Funded Public Transit System is not a Free system. It still costs a lot of money. It doesnít cost as much money as the current system, that is, we all save money.
On top of that, it puts Toronto on the map as the most welcoming city in the world.
Insist that every employee of the Toronto Transit Commission ride the Toronto Transit Commission to work.
No cars, no getting a lift with a neighbour. No bicycles. Everyone from the cleaning staff to Andy Byford or whoever replaces him once he escapes.
Once Toronto Transit Commission employees en masse begin registering their excuses for being late, something might get done.
Me, Iíd bet money on the first proposal rather than the second one.
But then, Iím such an optimist.
