*&%#$%*^@ Urged to Quit

Thursday, February 11, 2010

You know the sort of article .

The usual.

Got into a position of power and wealth and now thinks he's entitled to all sorts of perks, and perking ups.

I don't care what kind of pistol you're miss-using, it's just plain wrong.

You got elected or hired to that position of power to make important decisions that affect the lives of those of us who did, and even did not, elect you or elect to pay you.

You get what you get (money, stretch limo etc.) because, the theory goes, you make weighty decisions that steer the course of our lives.

That makes you an extra-ordinary citizen, beyond the ordinary, not like us at all.

Once you have demonstrated that you can't make good decisions - and sex-outside-marriage while evolutionally and biologically sound is never a good decision, you've proved to use that you are hopeless at making important decisions.

I will buy into that "Well, we're only human, give him/her/it another chance", but I don't buy into you staying in the job.

Quit now.

Throw a six and return to square one, be like the rest of us.

Here's the truth: If I sleep around, it may be a bad decision, but I'm not entrusted with a nuclear button or a transit system (same thing in Toronto, right now!). A bad decision on my part affects me and those few close personal friends I still have. It doesn't hold the threat of torpedoing the city or the nation.

But when you demonstrate your ability to pull the trigger at the wrong time and in the wrong place, no matter what the pistol is, you put us all at risk.

"It is clear that Mr. *&%#$%*^@ is not in a position to commit that degree of focus ..."

This is true. (he's said to have skipped the country for a while, at a time when his bailiwick is in major crisis)

“... not a happy moment for anybody who is young and smart and up-and-coming to fall this way.”

This is NOT true. Happy moment it is not, young he is, fallen he is, but smart he is NOT.

“We cannot kick somebody who is down—it is not the human thing to do, it is not the Torontonian thing to do. Let him get up and learn from his mistakes.”

This is NOT true. We should not kick someone who is down, fair play etc etc, but at least FAIR PLAY (or as some would have it, "fare play"). Fair play for us, who need a smart, sober control in place, not someone who is running around trying to get laid/paid at our expense. Let him/her/it learn from their mistakes from where we learn ours - at home, behind the counter, in the street. Not in a cushy office.

“I don’t think there are many single males in this city who could have their hormones so closely examined and come out all right.”

NOT true. It's not about being randy; we all are randy. I used to be, I know. It's about being randy and NOT being focused on the job you're paid to do. It's about lying (for that's what cheating and dishonesty is). It's about basing decisions on non-truths, because it suits your personal interest. It's about being incapable of making sound decisions all of the time. It's about putting our (city's) future at risk.

" ... he was absent most of the time.” This is the most telling comment of all. Physically he wasn't where he should be, mentally he wasn't where he should be, and he gets paid/perks for being where he ought to be, instead of being where he'd like to be.
