Driving For Dummies -2

Mom clocked at 101 km/h in school zone

“A Toronto mother has been charged with street racing after police spotted a car driving through a school zone at more than 100 km/h. … just after 8:30 a.m. near a school and daycare … when she was pulled over. “

This is the second of three such events over the past couple of weeks (see also http://www.thestar.com/article/491656 ).

Let’s see.

You’re a mother. Of a child. (Subsequent reports quoted her as saying that she was in a hurry to collect her own child and deliver said child to the same day care!).

You know what a school zone is.

It is 8:30 a.m. when you might expect other humans to be out-and-about, not 2:00 a.m. when we are all abed cuddling our teddy-bears.

There are crossing guards. Old codgers, usually, but with some sort of reflex, some sort of memory.

Retired.

Probably grandparents!

Of small children in the neighborhood.

101 KM/hour is above the provincial limit, for heaven’s sakes; think “Highway 401 in the country”, let alone “quiet residential street populated by children” (There are very few daycare centers amongst the warehouses in Mississauga!).

What were you thinking?

Were you thinking?

If not, then you surely are not capable of driving a car.

Strap the woman to the front fender for the next, oh, I dunno, week?

Or impound the car for LIFE.

Her choice.
